Most common pests + peak seasons

San Antonio & Hill Country

Subterranean swarms typically Feb–May; drywood May–Sep (weather-dependent). Formosan subterranean termites are present in parts of Texas and expanding. Use this to justify spring inspections + pre-treats on new builds.

Peak late spring through fall; San Antonio Metro Health confirmed first 2025 West Nile–positive pool in early Aug 2025 and schedules overnight spraying — great hook for seasonal mosquito plans.

Very common across Central/Hill Country; activity rises with warming temps, often moving indoors; prevention = sealing + exclusion.

Major Texas pest with large economic impact; pronounced activity Apr–Jul and late Sep–Oct (two seasonal bumps). Great for neighborhood-level broadcast bait programs.

German cockroach is one of Texas’ most common household pests; thrives year-round indoors — tie this to multifamily, hospitality, foodservice IPM programs.

Predictable late summer–fall outbreaks, often swarming lit commercial sites (gas stations, strip centers) for 4–6 weeks — position night-time exterior service + lighting recommendations.

Pressure increases fall/winter as temps drop; use exclusion + sanitation + monitoring to sell commercial prevention. (Supportive local code/enforcement resources and CDC guidance are commonly cited by municipalities; pair with your IPM messaging.)

Seasonal homeowner/business tips

Seal entry points after winter, clean gutters.

Eliminate standing water to reduce mosquitoes.

Store firewood away from your home to prevent rodents.

Inspect insulation and attic spaces for wildlife activity.
